Lobe Piercing in Homer Glen, IL
The most popular piercing
we offer.
The earlobe piercing is the most requested service at The Piercing Boutique — and it’s where most piercing journeys begin. Whether you’re getting your first set, adding a second or third hole, or bringing your child in for their very first piercing, we approach every lobe the same way: proper jewelry, a single-use sterile needle, and placement that looks intentional.
What separates a lobe done here from a mall kiosk is the jewelry and the method. We strongly recommend implant-grade titanium flatback labret studs for all new piercings. Flatbacks sit flush against the lobe, don’t catch on hair or pillows, and heal significantly better than butterfly backs. We carry both — but flatbacks are what we encourage for the best healing outcome.
If you’re searching for a professional ear piercing near Homer Glen, Lockport, or Joliet — or a children’s ear piercing without a gun — we’re easy to reach at 15738 S Bell Rd in Homer Glen, serving clients from across Will and Cook County.

Implant-Grade Jewelry
Single, Double & Triple
Every lobe option
we offer.
1
Single Lobe
Your first piercing or a fresh start on a new ear. Classic, clean, and the foundation of every curated ear. We assess your anatomy and mark placement before touching a needle.
2
Double Lobe
Two holes in one lobe. We space them so they work together — close enough to look intentional, far enough apart to heal without interfering with each other.
3
Triple Lobe
Three stacked holes up the lobe. A curated look that pairs beautifully with different jewelry sizes in each hole. We assess your lobe before committing to spacing.
We can also do both ears in one visit, re-pierce closed lobes, and correct off-center placements from previous piercings. All placements are mapped and approved before anything is pierced.

What We Pierce With
Initial jewelry
and beyond.
All initial lobe jewelry is implant-grade and threadless. The jewelry you start with directly affects how your piercing heals. We carry butterfly backs but strongly encourage flatbacks — they sit flush, don’t snag, and make for a smoother, more comfortable healing experience.
◈
Implant-Grade Titanium
ASTM F136 titanium — the standard for new piercings. Biocompatible, nickel-free, and lightweight. Available in anodized colors including rose gold, gold, black, and silver.
◇
Solid 14k Gold
Solid 14k in yellow or white gold — not plated, not filled. For clients who want to start in gold from day one. Available for adults and children.
◉
Flat-Back Labret Stud
Our strongly recommended starting style for all lobe piercings. The flat disc sits flush against the lobe — no protruding post, no spring mechanism to press into the skin or trap bacteria. We carry butterfly backs as well, but flatbacks are what we recommend for the best healing experience.
◆
Threadless Tops
All flatback ends are threadless — the top presses into the post with a small bend rather than screwing on. No cross-threading. Once healed, swap tops for a completely different look without changing the post.
We use implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium and solid 14k gold only. We carry butterfly backs but encourage flatbacks for all new piercings — they heal better, feel better, and are easier to clean. No plated metals, no surgical steel, no mystery alloys.
Children’s Ear Piercing
Piercing your
child’s ears.
Children’s ear piercings are some of our most meaningful appointments. We understand that kids can be nervous — that’s completely normal, and we expect it. The child must verbally consent to the piercing before we proceed, every time. We take the time to talk to every child, explain what’s going to happen, and make them feel as comfortable as possible before we do anything.
If your child needs a few minutes to settle down, that’s fine — we’re patient. We work at whatever pace the child needs. That said, if a child becomes uncontrollable or unsafe during the process, we will stop. A piercing done under distress doesn’t heal well and isn’t fair to the child.
We use a single-use sterile needle only — never a gun. Piercing guns cannot be fully sterilized between clients, force blunt jewelry through tissue rather than creating a clean channel, and cause significantly more trauma. For the full comparison, see Piercing Guns vs. Needles for Kids.

Questions & Answers
Lobe piercing
FAQ.
Does an earlobe piercing hurt?▼
Earlobe piercings are among the least painful piercings available. Most clients describe a quick pinch under a second. Soft tissue pierced with a sharp needle is far more comfortable than a gun forcing blunt jewelry through. For children, we talk them through the process first so there are no surprises.
How long does it take to heal?▼
Earlobe piercings heal in 6 to 8 weeks. We recommend coming in for a professional downsize at that point before switching to decorative jewelry. Full maturation takes longer, but most clients are comfortable and the piercing looks settled well before that.
Can I get both ears done in one visit?▼
Yes. We do both ears in a single appointment. If you’re getting multiple holes per ear, we plan all placements together first so the full picture looks right before anything is pierced. Two of our piercers can do both earlobes simultaneously if needed.
Do you pierce children’s ears?▼
Yes — earlobe piercings for children with a parent or legal guardian present. The child must verbally consent before we proceed. We use a needle only, never a gun. We also will not pierce a child who is distressed or unwilling. Visit the
Children’s Ear Piercing page for full details.
Why don’t you use a piercing gun?▼
Piercing guns can’t be fully sterilized, force blunt jewelry through tissue rather than creating a clean channel, and cause significantly more trauma. Needles are more precise, safer, and heal better — for all ages. This matters especially for children, whose tissue is more delicate.
Should I get flatbacks or butterfly backs?▼
We carry both and will pierce with whichever you prefer. That said, we always encourage flatbacks. The flat disc back sits flush against the lobe with no spring mechanism — nothing to press into the skin during swelling, catch on hair, or trap bacteria. Butterfly backs work fine for many people, but flatbacks simply make healing more comfortable and predictable. We’ll explain both options at your appointment so you can decide.
Can I re-pierce a closed lobe?▼
Usually yes, depending on the scar tissue and where the original hole was. We assess before committing. If the previous placement was off, we can put you in a better position this time. Bring in both ears and we’ll look at what we’re working with.
Do I need an appointment?▼
