Helix
Piercing
The outer cartilage rim of the ear — one of the most versatile and popular cartilage piercings. Works beautifully as a single stud or as part of a curated ear stack. Placement is assessed along the natural curve of your helix for the most stable, comfortable result.
The helix is often the first cartilage piercing people choose when building a curated ear. It's forgiving on most anatomies, heals well with consistent aftercare, and leaves room for creative jewelry choices once healed.
Conch
Piercing
The inner or outer conch sits in the large, open cartilage bowl of the ear. Inner conch piercings wear beautifully with a flat-back stud; outer conch placements work with a hoop that wraps around the ear rim. Anatomy varies significantly — we assess before we commit to a position.
Daith
Piercing
Through the innermost cartilage fold of the ear — a uniquely placed, visually striking piercing. Daith piercings wear a clicker or seamless ring beautifully once healed. The fold must be pronounced enough to support the jewelry; we check anatomy before anything is marked.
Tragus
Piercing
The small cartilage tab in front of the ear canal. Subtle and refined — works exceptionally well with flat-back studs and tiny gem ends. The tragus needs to be thick enough to support jewelry safely; anatomy is assessed before piercing.
One of the most understated cartilage placements on the ear. It sits close to the face and catches the eye without demanding attention — ideal for clients building a curated look where balance matters.
Industrial
Piercing
Two helix piercings connected by a single barbell — one of our most requested and visually dramatic ear piercings. The bar runs diagonally across the upper ear. Industrial piercings are anatomy-dependent; not every ear has the right structure for a well-placed industrial. We assess before committing.
Because two piercings must be placed at precise angles for the bar to sit correctly, this is one of the few placements where anatomy can truly rule it out. We'll tell you honestly if your ear structure won't support a clean industrial.
Rook
Piercing
Through the upper inner cartilage fold — a bold, distinctive placement that sits beautifully with a curved barbell or clicker ring. The rook fold must have enough definition to support jewelry; not every ear anatomy qualifies. We look before we mark.
Forward Helix
Piercing
At the top of the ear where the helix curves forward toward the face. One of the most visible cartilage placements — wears flat-back studs and threadless ends beautifully. Anatomy check required; cartilage thickness and angle must support the placement.
Lobe
Piercing
The most requested piercing we do — and the one done most carelessly elsewhere. At The Piercing Boutique, lobe piercings get the same anatomy assessment, the same implant-grade jewelry, and the same sterile needle technique as every other piercing we perform.
Single lobes, double lobes, or third lobe piercings — all placed and spaced deliberately so future additions work with what's already there. We also do lobe piercings for children of all ages.
Children's Ear
Piercing
We pierce children of all ages for earlobe piercings using the same needle-only technique we use for adults. No guns — ever. A parent or legal guardian must be present with valid photo ID, and the child must verbally consent at the appointment.
We use implant-grade titanium flatback labrets — not butterfly backs. Flat backs are more comfortable to sleep in, don't snag on hair or clothing, and reduce irritation during the 6–8 week healing period significantly.
