The nostril piercing is the single most requested piercing at The Piercing Boutique. And for good reason — it's versatile, heals well when done correctly, and works on virtually every face shape. Whether you're looking for a dainty flat-back stud, a delicate nose ring, or a 14k gold threadless piece, we'll help you find the right jewelry and placement for your anatomy.
If you've been searching for a nose piercing near Homer Glen, a nose stud in Lockport, or the best nostril piercing near Joliet, IL — you're in the right place. Our studio at 15738 S Bell Rd is easy to reach from Homer Glen, Lockport, Orland Park, Frankfort, New Lenox, and the southwest suburbs.
Every nostril piercing starts with a placement consultation. We look at your anatomy — where your natural curve sits, where jewelry will rest flat, and what gauge and style will look best. Then we mark it, show you, and pierce only when you approve.
Of all the piercings we do, nostril piercings are among the fastest to close. Even a fully healed nostril can begin to close within hours of removing jewelry. Never take your jewelry out "just for a minute" unless you're prepared to lose the piercing. If you need to remove it for a procedure or work requirement, come see us first so we can advise you on your options.
A nostril piercing passes through the soft tissue of the nostril wall — not cartilage, not the septum. When placed correctly, the jewelry sits in the natural curve of your nostril and looks intentional from day one.
Healing runs 4 to 6 months for most people, with the first 6 to 8 weeks being the most reactive. Full maturation can take up to a year depending on how your body heals and how consistent you are with aftercare. What separates a piercing that heals easily from one that gives you trouble is almost always placement and jewelry quality.
Too high and the jewelry catches on everything. Too low and it sits awkwardly in the curve. Wrong metal and your body reacts. That's why we use implant-grade titanium and solid 14k gold exclusively — and why we take our time with placement before any needle is involved.
The nostril is also one of the few piercings where starting jewelry length matters enormously. Nose piercings need a longer initial post to accommodate swelling. Once healing is underway — typically around 8 to 12 weeks — we'll downsize you to a shorter post that sits flush and looks cleaner.
A note on closing: Nose piercings are uniquely prone to closing quickly because of the rich blood supply and mucosal lining of the nasal tissue. Even after months of healing, the piercing channel can begin to narrow within hours. If you ever feel resistance when reinserting jewelry, stop — don't force it — and come in so we can taper it safely.
Nostril placement isn't one-size-fits-all. We assess before we mark — every time.
All initial jewelry is implant-grade and threadless. No mystery alloys, no plated metals, no surgical steel.
ASTM F136 titanium — nickel-free, biocompatible, and available in anodized colors including gold, rose gold, and black. The lightest and most body-safe option for a healing piercing.
Solid 14k in yellow or white gold — not plated, not filled. For clients who want to start in gold from day one. Beautiful, body-safe, and looks great healed or fresh.
Our preferred starting style. The flat disc back sits flush inside the nostril for comfort; the threadless end sits on top. No sharp posts, no L-shaped wire, no constant irritation.
We always start with a stud — never a hoop. Rings move significantly more during healing and increase irritation dramatically. Once fully healed, we'll switch you to a seamless ring in the right diameter.
After healing and your downsize, we have a full selection of decorative threadless ends, gem sets, opals, and shaped pieces to upgrade your look.
Clients come to The Piercing Boutique from across Will and Cook County. If you're looking for a professional nose piercing in the southwest suburbs, we're a short drive from most of these communities.
