The Material Standard

For initial piercings: implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) only. For healed daith piercings: implant-grade titanium or solid 14k or 18k gold. Never plated metals, mystery alloys, or fashion jewelry without material documentation.

Daith piercing with hoop — The Piercing Boutique Homer Glen Illinois
A healed daith — the inner fold sits naturally in a ring, making hoops the standard jewelry style for this placement.

Jewelry Styles for Every Stage

Initial Piercing
Implant-Grade Titanium Seamless Ring or Curved Barbell
A seamless ring in implant-grade titanium — sized to fit the daith anatomy without compressing the fold. The ring diameter is critical: too small compresses the tissue; too large moves excessively. Your piercer will measure and select the correct diameter for your specific daith anatomy.
Healed Upgrade
Hinged Clicker Ring
A hinged clicker with a snap closure — the most popular daith upgrade. Easier to open and close than a seamless ring, often with decorative elements (stone settings, textured arcs) on the visible portion. Available in implant-grade titanium and solid gold.
Healed Alternative
Decorative Curved Barbell
Some healed daith piercings wear curved barbells with decorative ends. Less common than rings but works well in anatomy where a ring doesn’t sit ideally. Both ends visible, so coordinated end pieces create a finished look.

Jewelry Questions

Daith rings typically range from 8–12mm internal diameter depending on the individual anatomy of the inner fold. The right size is measured at your appointment — a ring that fits correctly will sit in the daith fold without compressing it or moving excessively. This is one of the most important sizing decisions in piercing and should be done by a professional.
Shaped daith rings — hearts, crescents, and other decorative forms — are popular for healed daith piercings. They work well once the fistula is fully established. For initial piercings, a simple seamless ring or curved barbell is the professional recommendation.
